I enjoy using different textures in the fabric collage that I apply beneath my paintings. This adds depth and interest, drawing the viewer’s eye into the work. The rough texture of plum-coloured hessian can be seen in the lower half of this painting, complementing the rich blues, greens, and yellows of the rest of the composition.
