Sketches
Based on quick drawings made in the environment, photo collages and colour swatches, the preliminary sketch explores composition, colour, tone, and mark-making, gradually forming a cohesive and satisfying image. These initial studies are typically created on paper using acrylic paint and Inktense pastel, sometimes chalk pastel, and occasionally graphite. The resulting images often carry a raw energy in both colour and mark-making, playing with light and expressive gesture.
