This sketch, along with its sister painting, was inspired by images from my Once a Wood project. In this series, I walk to my local woodland at 6 a.m. to wait for the dawn.

This sketch captures the golden moment when the light finally reaches over the hill, spreading toward you as you stand quietly in the shadows of the trees—illuminating the world as you watch.
