Derbyshire is full of rich industrial relics—ruins of stone and iron being slowly reclaimed by the tenacious beauty of nature. I find these silent traces of the past fascinating.

This particular pool was created as part of an industrial hive that once quarried stone, produced wire, charcoal, and the evocatively named ‘white coal’. Now surrounded by woodland, intense colour, and peace, it has become a place for reflection—a place to watch the heron land and the water ripple.
